Sights and Sounds
Early night, late Fall, East Village, New York, Sushi Park Japanese restaurant.
As I sat and dined on my bowl of Chirashi a woman sat next to me. At the time I took little notice, but the moment she spoke I could not take my eyes off of her. It was only a little later that I noticed a rather severe scar behind her ear and realized she may have been suffering from some hearing loss, which compounded with her rather harsh accent accounted for the somewhat shocking or jarring way she sounded.
After I had stopped filming (with my trusty Nokia 6682) I watched her attempt to pour soy sauce onto her food. After failing to realize how the container worked, she clumsily unscrewed the entire cap from the bottle and proceeded to pour an amazing amount of soy sauce onto her rolls, effectively soaking them all. I leaned forward at that point and showed her how it was done. She apologized profusely: 4 times.
